Carol Kardas, SPHR, CCP, SHRM-SCP will discuss the status of the suspended Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime rule and what it means to employers. The seminar “FLSA: Where Are We Now?” is sponsored by the Connecticut Business & Industry Association’s HR Council. Kardas is a founding partner of KardasLarson, a statewide human resources consulting firm.
She will co-present the seminar with Jonathan B. Orleans, Esq., Pullman & Comley LLC. They will review the possible outcomes of FLSA regulation changes, the direction your compliance efforts may take, and the legal and employee-relations risks you may be exposed to along the way.
A federal court has halted — for now — implementation of the new FLSA overtime rule proposed by the Obama administration, originally set to take effect December 1, 2016.
Many employers have already developed communication, financial, and record keeping strategies to comply with a new overtime standard, and may have planned to go live with the changes on December 1, 2016. Some employers implemented changes before December 1, while others are taking a wait-and-see approach.
What will you do now? Reverse course on announced salary changes or follow through with your plans? What happens to salary adjustments that have already appeared in employee paychecks? Do you take the money back? Register now to reserve your place at this important event.
