Manchester Community College’s Professional Development Program is offering a credit-free educational seminar series to help local businesses grow and prosper. The seminars will be facilitated by HR expert Lois Krause of Glastonbury-based KardasLarson, one of Connecticut’s leading HR consulting firms.

4 Different HR Seminars

Manchester Community College (MCC) is offering four different HR seminars that are targeted to business owners, managers, and entrepreneurs who are planning to start a business. All seminars are held at the MCC campus in Manchester, from 6pm to 8pm. Select whichever seminar interests you, or attend all four seminars. The fee for each seminar is $25.

Best Practices for Paying Employees – Cancelled

Monday, June 26, 2017, 6pm – 8pm
Learn about the new guidelines for paying employees including the new FSLA and Contractor guidelines. You’ll learn the importance of doing proper market research and why it’s vital to write an accurate job description. This session will also discuss paying “under the table” and how paying employees incorrectly will cost your business.

Hiring Incorrectly Can Cost You

Monday, July 10, 2017, 6pm – 8pm
Hiring the wrong person can become extremely costly. Learn best practices about the hiring process and the theories behind why background checks, requesting immigration status, evaluating education background, and checking references are vital.

Learn how to handle difficult employees and situations to help ensure that rights are not violated, and the possibility of discrimination and potential lawsuits are avoided.
