New FLSA Regulations of 2016
March 16, 2016

The U.S. Department of Labor released an update about the proposed regulations for the FLSA rules regarding Exempt/Non-Exempt Status of Overtime Pay. Although these regulations are proposed, and will likely not be final until June or after in 2016, employers need to begin to prepare for changes such as the increased “salary test” from $455/wk ($23,660/yr) ($475/wk in CT) to $970/wk ($50,440/yr) for those “Exempt” from Overtime status.

We will continue to keep an eye on the updates and will help our clients to review all of their positions to remain compliant with the changes.

NOTE: *The Current Minimum wage in CT (as of 1/1/16) is $9.60/hr., and Hotel & Restaurant worker’s tips are 36% and Bartender’s tips are 18.5%.
